DESCRIPTION:<p>Jean McPheeters is the president of the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce. She has served in this position since January 2000. </p>
<p>From 1994 to 1999 she worked as the Coordinator of Community Education for Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) in Ithaca\, New York. In 1993 and 1994\, Ms. McPheeters worked as the District Administrator for U.S. Representative Maurice Hinchey. She had previously served as district representative for Congressman Matthew McHugh from 1986 through his retirement in 1992. Other jobs include being a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service\, organizing workers for the United Auto Workers Local 1199\, and working for the Tompkins County Public Library and Cornell University as a library assistant.</p>
<p>Ms. McPheeters currently is a member of the Boards of Directors of Tompkins County Area Development\, Tompkins County Workforce Investment Board\, Cayuga Medical Center\, and the Paleontological Research Institution. For five years she served as a member of the Tompkins County Industrial Development Agency and now serves on the Zone Advisory Board for Tompkins County. From 1983 to 2002\, Ms. McPheeters served as a trustee of Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden\, New York and served as chair of the board for 5 years. She also served on the TC3 Foundation Board for six years.</p>
<p>Ms. McPheeters was born and raised in Brooklyn\, New York and attended parochial school. She graduated from Marymount Secondary School in Tarrytown and attended college at Tompkins Cortland Community College and Cornell University\, where she studied labor relations. She holds a B.S. degree from Empire State College. She lives in Brooktondale with her husband\, Daniel\, in a log home that they built.</p>

<p>All WIPP events are free and open to the entire Cornell community. Events are funded by the GPSAFC.</p>
