ACLU President Discusses Civil Liberties in the Age of Obama
At the October 8 CIPA Colloquium, President of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Susan Herman, challenged the audience to evaluate "Civil Liberties in the Age of Obama." Ms. Herman asserted that the ACLU finds plenty of pressing issues, whatever party is in power. "Are we ready to close the ACLU office and put up a nice banner that says, 'Mission Accomplished?'" Herman said. "Not quite yet." Herman cited instances where the Obama administration is maintaining "War on Terror" policies which violate civil liberties.
