Career Services
CIPA’s job placement record speaks for itself:
Historically, CIPA has had a 95% placement rate in opportunities utilizing the M.P.A. within six months of graduation.
Personalized Career Development Support
CIPA employs an Executive Director for Professional Development, Thomas O'Toole. He keeps fellows and alumni informed on internship and permanent employment opportunities. In addition, he advises students and alumni on appropriate strategies for achieving their personal career goals including résumé development, interview preparation, and job and internship search strategies.
Networking Opportunities
The Professional Development program offers fellows the opportunity to meet with public policy practitioners through off-campus trips to Washington, D.C., and New York City, as well as on-campus seminars with professionals who are invited to Cornell. These practitioners offer experience-based insight into public policy careers, and also serve as potential networking contacts for fellows engaged in job searches.
Referral Services
The Office of Professional Development produces and maintains a collection of résumés that include contact information, professional experience, and research interests of current fellows. This résumé collection is available to active alumni and professional contacts.
Internships
The Assistant Director for Professional Development oversees the CIPA internship program. He assists students in locating positions and administers a stipend program offering modest financial assistance to fellows with unpaid internships of particular merit.
