Cornell in Rome Program
Ciao from Rome!
The Cornell in Rome Program offers internship opportunities and coursework in urban studies, European politics and Italian. It is located at Cornell's very own Palazzo Lazzaroni, a seventeenth century building in the historic center of Rome, and is operated by Cornell's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. Educating students in Italy for over twenty years, the program has provided a transformative experience for many CIPA Fellows interested in urban planning, international development, food security, and the political economy of the European Union. The program is open to students inside and outside Cornell in a variety of disciplines. Core components of the program include an externship, a rigorous professional development course, and elective coursework. Although intensive Italian language instruction is available through the Cornell in Rome Program and may be required for some externship placements, all courses are taught in English.
Since Rome is an international center for food security and agricultural policy, CIPA students frequently intern at organizations such as the World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO). The Cornell in Rome Program also features an extensive field trip program that provides students with opportunities to explore regions of Italy beyond Rome.
