Academic Program Requirements
In addition to satisfying the degree requirements for the MPA (or, for non-CIPA Fellows, the requirements of your respective graduate degree), you must also complete the following:
- Core Courses - complete Core Course(s) in the areas of Economics and Political Analysis, Finance and Analytics, Markets and Regulations, and Science and Technology. A full list of Core Courses can be found here.
- Elective Coursework - complete a minimum of one elective course in Economics and Political Analysis, Finance and Analytics, and Markets and Regulations; and a minimum of two courses from the Science and Technology subject area. A full list of Elective Courses can be found here.
- Practical Experience - complete a supervised internship, at least 10 weeks in duration -OR- a supervised practicum, capstone, or comparable project. In each case, the host organization must be a pre-approved private, public, or nonprofit organization actively operating in the environmental or impact investment fields.
- Professional Report - complete and defend a professional report on an approved environmental finance and management or impact investment topic, referred by an environmental or impact investment organization. The report must be in accordance with the procedures, requirements, and timelines set forth in the CIPA Program Handbook. Fellows are required to defend the report.
You must earn a grade of A- or better in each EFII program course, and maintain a cumulative grade point average of B+ or better in all other graduate division courses. Additionally, you must complete the requirements for the EFII program within three semesters of acceptance into the program.
